Of course Christabel was too much of a lady to assist in such unsightly labor, so she just sat around in the darkness while Paolo struggled to hold the heavy weight up. After a few minutes, though, she started worrying the door would cave in, bringing all those corpses in on top of her, so she ended up standing and trying to help hold the door, though she wasn't very effective.

If Paolo could've laughed at that moment he might have when Christabel ran up and tried to help hold the door up. Though he didn't say anything since it was at least some help. After a few minutes passed Paolo's arms already were starting to get tired but he continued to hold the door. But the door soon became hot as did the small hole Christabel and Paolo were trapped in. "Oh no," he whispered looking up as the door became even hotter. Apparently the pirates had finally lit up the pile of corpses and the fire was making its way through. "I can't hold this anymore!" Paolo shouted lowering his arms and pushing himself and Christabel out of the way as the door and burning pile of corpses fell in.

Christabel being a whiney rich girl screamed as the pile of dead bodies poured into the hole, and she instinctively scrambled to get out of the hole.

Otho and Kreger, who were watching the pile of corpses burn, saw Christabel climb out of the hole with Paolo fallowing behind. "Trap door," Kreger explained. Otho nodded walking over to the two who just escaped. He was a tall man with a bald head and freakish looking eyes that were somewhat too far apart. His shirt revealed some of his chest which was hairy. "Who are you?" Otho asked. "Paolo," he replied standing up from the ground. Otho was still much more taller but Paolo still looked like a good size. compared to Kreger who was short and fat with bushy brows that covered his eyes and a tangled beard that made him look like a dwarf. "Well, Paolo what were you doing down in that dirty hole?" Otho asked. "Hiding," Paolo replied shortly. "From us? Why there is no reason to hide from us! We are merely kind gentlemen who travel the seas." "And burn innocent people?" "And burn people who have stolen or committed other such crimes," Otho said with a smile then turned his attention to Christabel. "And who is this lovely, lovely lady?"

"A woman whose time you are not worth," Christabel replied icily, staring down the rotund man with her intensely brown eyes.

Otho laughed a loud roaring laugh, "I'm afraid if you chose to treat me a little nicer you would've gotten out of this mess," he said then snapped his fingers twice. Two large burly men appeared behind Paolo and Christabel grabbing their arms. Though Paolo didn't give up so easily. He lunged his feet forward kicking Otho and then did some other fancy pants moves which got him released from the burly man's grip. Paolo took a shot at the man's face which proved successful but Otho raised his whip into the air and snapped it around Paolo's feet. "You prove to be strong! I may have some use for you and your companion!" Otho shouted. Paolo spit out a chunk of sand as he was dragged away to the ship.

Of course Christabel knew exactly what use Otho and his surly sidekick had in mind for her, which she wasn't about to be submitted to. Now she was wishing she hadn't had to kick off her shoes in the water. The heels could have proved useful in her current situation. But they were gone, and feeble kicking with her bare feet wouldn't have done anything. There was nothing she could do at the moment but allow herself to be taken aboard the ship, if indeed that was where they were being taken, and think of a plan later.

Paolo was thrown into a small square room with nothing in it except a tiny barred window near the ceiling. It wasn't reachable nor could somebody fir through it. Paolo looked around at the brown wall and the brown floor. This was worse than a cell! Though after a few minutes of intense searching Paolo noticed a small hole in the wall (probably for a mouse). He got on his knees and decided to try something. "Christabel? Can you hear me?"
