"Jamaica," she replied, boredly watching Paolo try to start a little fire. "My...fiancé owns a plantation there. I was going out to meet him." She reluctantly said the word "fiancé" like a child uttering a curse word when an adult was standing outside the door, betraying her feelings, or lack thereof.

Paolo nodded as he still continued to grind the two sticks together. "I haven't been there yet. I don't get to visit many of the places we dock." he told her finally catching a fire to the coconuts peelings. He then blew on it which made the fire catch more and more until Paolo made into a decent size bonfire.
((we'll just pretend he had some wood there.))

"I have not seen it either. I've never been anywhere of consequence. I've only seen the man once in my life and I don't know what to think." As a matter of fact she knew exactly what to think, but caught herself discussing semi-private matters with a lesser, so she shut herself up and set to watching the horizon for ships.

"You've only seen him once?" Paolo asked looking puzzled. He forgot that maybe it wasn't his place to ask. Usually, he never had conversations people other than the crew members.

This kid apparently wasn't bright enough to understand that Christabel did not like her fiancé, and it wasn't even that hard. At least that's what was going through her head at the moment upon seeing Paolo's confused expression. Therefore she did not go on to explain how her father had set his sights on arranging a business partner of his back in Madrid for her husband. She didn't detail on the man's unnerving black eyes, his conceited and possessive attitude, the twenty-three-year age difference. It was a marriage of convenience, and she'd rather be dead than have to go through with it, but this much did not escape her lips.

When Christabel did not answer Paolo did not ask any more questions. It really wasn't his place to ask so he shut up.
((This is dying rather fast. Any ideas on your side?))

((well, a ship is going to come, of course, but I don't know whose it should be, or what to do after. This was a very spur-of-le-moment thing.))
